CADY Sub-Study

About this trial

This is a translational sub-study to the main, original ICORG (CTRIAL-IE) 08-01 CADY-study and includes the:
1. Analysis of the following cardiac biomarkers: high sensitivity Troponin I (hsTnI), B-type Natriuretic Protein (BNP), N-terminal ProBNP (NT-proBNP) and Galectin-3 (Gal-3) on existing blood samples taken within the main Cady study using new, more sensitive test kits.
2. Retrospective collection of Major Adverse Cardiovascular Event (MACE) data on patients enrolled on the main study.
3. Analysis of biomarker results together with the MACE data and the existing LVEF data to assess the predictive capability of the biomarkers.

Patient Profile

No new patients will be recruited to this study. Patients who participated in the CTRIAL-IE (ICORG) 08-01 CADY study on cardiac dysfunction in HER-2 positive breast cancer patients are asked to please read this important data protection notice. In collaboration with Abbott Laboratories, Cancer Trials Ireland is conducting a follow-up sub-study to re-test stored biological samples using advanced biomarker technology and review medical records for cardiovascular outcomes. This research aims to improve the early detection of heart risks in breast cancer patients treated with Trastuzumab. Your data remains securely stored and protected with strict access controls.
