About this trial
The study is a multi-centre Phase 3 clinical trial to compare outcomes in patients who receive chemoradiotherapy (chemotherapy and radiotherapy) before surgery versus outcomes in patients who receive chemoradiotherapy with surveillance and oesophagectomy (if it becomes required) in patients with operable locally advanced squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) of the oesophagus.
The study is initiated, organised, and conducted by the Karolinska University Hospital. Karolinska University Hospital is an academically oriented research institution and sponsor of the study. The study is being coordinated by Cancer Trials Ireland in Ireland.
Patient Profile
This study will include 20 Irish patients and 1020 patients globally.
Patients who have been diagnosed with operable locally advanced SCC of the oesophagus will be included in this study.
