Key Requirements
- Science and/or medical, nursing or patient advocacy background. Academic qualification an advantage.
- Experience in administering governance committees and reporting to Boards.
- Knowledge of Clinical Research quality standards and Irish/European/international regulatory requirements.
- Excellent people engagement skills, ability to work cross-functionally and represent the public and patient voice in a range of settings.
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience working in a similar role or advocating on behalf of patients.
- Experience working in a multidisciplinary environment.
- Resource and strategy planning, managing committees and stakeholder engagement skills important.
- Public speaking, presentations, media and social media experience an advantage.
Main Function(s)
- Support and frame the patient engagement and involvement strategy.
- Develop and promote PPI-related activities across Cancer Trials Ireland, through each Disease Specific Sub Group and governing committees.
Primary Responsibilities
- Manage the planning and delivery of the Cancer Trials Ireland programme of PPI activities within the HRB National Cancer Network.
- Support and deliver actions of the Patient Consultant Committee.
- Manage the planning and implementation of patient involvement in clinical study development and design.
- Liaise closely with the Operations Leads and Chairpersons of the Disease Specific Sub Groups.
- Set and track PPI-related KPIs, programme deliverables and milestones.
- Contribute to the preparation of reports, including progress reports and annual reports.
- Manage relationships and communications between partner organisations, network members, PPI contributors, researchers, and other Cancer Trials Ireland staff as appropriate
- Liaise with the National PPI Network.
- Engage / liaise and manage effective relationships with multiple key internal and external stakeholders.
- Manage the PPI budget under the oversight of the Financial Controller.
- Contribute to/lead conference presentations, publications, and social media activities.
